Default Daily Smoker...

Morning all,

A mate of mine is selling an E46 330CD with 114,000 miles on the clock. 04 plate. I'm tempted to take it off his hands as a daily smoker as i'm having to drive a bit more now that i used to.

It's got a service coming up, which he will get done, hopefully this will flag any issues, but is there anything i should be aware of / check for on these? I remember someone once mentioning something about a plastic piece in the turbo that needs to be replacd with a metal one?

Is it a MANUAL or AUTO ? I ask as it's the AUTOs that have this inherited problem of swallowing the inlet manifold flaps (six to choose from) If that happens it's not just a NEW turbo but a whole NEW engine that will be required. Also the AUTOs suffer from Gear box failures !!! I kid U not. If and when either of these issues happen (and they often do) BMW pretend as if they know nothing about it, the cheeky Fookers. The worst cars to suffer with this inlet flap problems are the 320d Manual or AUTO with the 150 BHP engine, in all shapes, made between 2001 (face lift) and 2003.

If the 330 Cd is a MANUAL with SPORT pack and well priced, with good speck then these are VERY desirable cars and can be remapped safely to around 250 BHP with Tons of torque with 40 + MPG too boot .

Would this be of interest to U ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-BMW-728-S...ht_1102wt_1139

More cost effective to run then a 330Cd with plenty of room
