Default Airbag removal

I have been trying to remove my airbag as the fascia (lower) needs replacing...................

Anyway im turning the wheel and pressing two screw drivers throught the holes & the fooker just wont come........and i am really trying, any harder and something will break

Am i doing it right or is there some trick way of doing it???

Now its out by 10mm but wont go back in

Anyone help out here?

It is a knack... sounds like you have freed one side only so far.

Keep persevering and you'll get it. It's a question of feeling around with the screwdriver for where the spring is. The spring is pretty strong so you have to push reasonably hard to feel it. Once you've pushed the spring in enough, that side of the airbag unclips fairly easily.

Thanks but i have bent the brackets that the bag sits in now

My pal at the stealers have done it without using my bully tactics!

Oh no .... Hope you get it sorted soon. It's actually not that difficult once you've figured it out.

You really need to push the screwdriver towards the airbag and on a slight angle.

Should have posted this earlier ... the photos will help:

Red signifies the pin that needs to be pushed away - Green the direction it moves:



Red points to the screw driver

I had the screwdrivers on the wrong angle (towards me) and went a little medieval with it and bent the brackets a bit, they are only about a pound each so all is well.
