there are two types of Michelin Cup tyre which have two different patterns and. rumoured. compounds;
Michelin Cup and Michelin Cup+ You can easily see the difference in the tyre pattern below(Cup left, Cup+ right). The Cup has a dual band thread and compaund where the outer is there for dry traction and the inner for wet traction. You can see the Cup+ has more grooves and therefore less rubber surface than a comparative Cup tyre. Also the extra grooves give more tyre movement and hence less heat and more lateral wear but better wet grip. I have not seen it confirmed but the Cup+ is rumoured to have not as grippy rubber compounds (more akin to PS2). The N0 or N1 prefixes just show they are Porsche Homologated tyres and ok for use on funny cars with big weights at the back! Strange thing is that michelin dont seem to add the + to the tyre when they list the N0 and N1 tyres even though they are Cup+ pattern, look at the stickers on the Cup pictures above, both just say Cup! http://www.michelin.co.uk/michelinuk...312100263.html Last edited by shimmy; 25-01-2010 at 12:30 PM. |

l'll give you impression after run both set cup and cup+, i'll run in mars with cup at dijon (a killertrack for your left outside tyre) and i have found a second set cup+ to try, maybe on my car for spa when first will be dead...
lucky, i will use tyres during a meeting with a lot of... For cup, michelin explain you can re-cut them for wet conditions. hence, i'm not sure cup+ is specially design for wet or similar but sure design for porsche, a car with less weight on the front... i don't know exactly how the result will be on my CSL, but one thing is that it's easier to find few used tyres. more, porsche wear out flat not only on the outside like our bmw. |
