clutch slip
Hi,
New to the register and wondered if anyone can offer some advice on the following; I have had my car around six months now but recently when changing up the gearbox it feels as though the clutch is slipping. Not sure if it just my imagination but it seems as though it is getting worse especially under any hard-ish acceleration. Presume this means I need a new clutch!!! but thought I would ask if there is any other possible causes before taking it into a garage. Whilst on the subject of garages...I live near ML but are they still the place to take an M car to for things like clutches????? Cheers, Tim |

my clutch was changed after 45k miles, same symptoms.
My gut feel is if you get the clutch retaught early on it will put off the slip but no evidence yet to that effect. Some guys just drive it hard on S6 and it goes away, but all in all if you leave it slipping too long it will ruin the clutch it seems |

I've got the same symptoms, very jerky setting off, clutch slurring on changes even with traction control off and in S6. Driving me mad.
I’ve read it could be the SMG software not compensating for clutch wear and hence searching for the biting point, going to give BMW a call tomorrow to book it in. They may be able to re-calibrate the biting point ??? Thank god for warranty. (I hope) |
