Ap disc replacement
Just a quick question.
When replacing the AP front discs, does the unit come complete or is it just the outer section hence a need to unscrew and attach to the existing bell? Thanks R |

I can't seem to find a guide on the pad replacement for the front AP set up, sounds like Shimmy knows and that it's probably on here somewhere. can somebody point me in the right direction? Discs and pads are here and I'd like to get them on, cheers. I'm guessing from what I've read here that the calipers don't even need removing which is a bonus.

1. jack up car
2. front wheel off (no need to remove callipers for pad OR disc change) 3. allen key (6mm i think) to remove two allen bolts (items 17 x 2) on side of calliper 4. slide out two tubes and anti rattle clip (item 9 - note arrow should point up) 5. from the back of the calliper push against the metal of the pad to compress pistons as far as possible 6. slide out pad, slide in new (check same shape pads) 7. repeat for second pad 8. slide in tubes and anti rattle clip (arrow facing up) 9. push in bolt and just nip onto thread 10. push in other bolt and just nip onto thread 11. tighten both with allen key to hand tight (no need to overtighten) 12. clean out AP logo 13. fit wheel 14. torque bolts about 110Nm 15. jack down car then repeat other side where people make mistakes is on the removing allen bolts (item 17 x 2), if you dont remove them easily or if you dont locate the bots right or overtighten them you can bugger the thread where they locate as there are helicoils inside.

I will replace AP discs with PFB disc that I have at home now. Do I have to remove the caliper or not? How??

no you dont take out the pads and release the disc bell with the two allen key studs and the disc and bell come out at an angle with the calliper in place (you might have to make sure the pistons are in if the pads were low) when you fit the AP bell to the PF discs use new lock bolts and only tighten to 10Nm starting at alternate sides getting the old bolts off is the hardest bit
