Default Do I get BMW to strip my box or not? Clutch slur

Need some urgent advice. I know its in search but wanted your thoughts on this specific case.

My CSL has bad clutch slur earlier this year. Some thrashing and a reset via the paddles has made this better, but not perfect.

In for some warranty work. BMW claimed they can spot the slur, and that I will need a strip down of box. Their master technician believes that it is "clutch & flywheel wear which is not covered under warranty". Strip down is £210 - 1.5 hrs labour.

I am convinced looking at previous posts it is not wear and tear. Few questions:

1. It has got better the more I use it but still does it. Thoughts?
2. £210 for a strip down seems cheap. What do you think?
3. Is they strip and put back together should there be any impact by doing this?

Tempted to leave it and see if it gets better or worse. Said I would respond by the morning.

By the way its Elms Bedford, so do trust what they say

Cheers

Matt

They could do you the SMG up-date (if not already) for £60 and see if that helps.

£250 to strip it down, how much to put it back together again?
There's obviously going to be something wrong, even if it's the flux capacitor?

A lot will depend on mileage, under 60K and it shouldn't be 'wear & tear' over and it could be.
The only person that knew anything about the CSL's little idiosyncrasies at Elms was Gareth and he now works for Bartlett - draw your own conclusion.

Thanks Mark. Will call later

Car is on 65k and no SMG update as far as I am aware.

They said they would rebuild for free.

Tempted to leave as it is take it to Sir Gareth if it worsens.

Makes you wonder why you bother with warranty......

Get I done, then when they see there is loads of life left on the clutch plate, you'll get you £210 back, new clutch and fly wheel under warranty and pulling like a train.Mine was on 65k when i had it done, and the clutch was good for another 65k when they looked at it.

if it is not to late to withdraw the car from Elms then I would

and take it to Sir Gareth of Bartlettshire.

Blokes a fekkin genius with these cesils.

The thing is it has warranty otherwise I would in a heartbeat. If they reckon it is wear it is off to Gareth for a double check!

Update!

So I was told this morning that the £210 is strip down only. It will be a further £210 to put it back together again if I don't wish to proceed. I then asked some technical questions thanks to the help of Mark & a Damien from Bartletts.

They now say they want authorisation for clutch replacement before they even strip, which is £819 + VAT.

They also claim that the "minimum for the rivets is 1mm, and mine is below this". Can they tell without strip down?

Thinking telling them to leave it and taking it to Bartletts at some point for a proper assessment. The slur isn't even that bad at the moment....

Also seriously thinking of ditching the warranty.
