Default Warranty... is it worth it?

My warranty is up for renewal & was just wondering what the opinions are regarding it, I know years gone by it was regarded as a must but do you all think that now?

I’ve taken it out every year though last 2 years I’ve only taken out the basic policy at £4-500 to cover of any major issues.

The only thing I’ve had replaced under warranty is a seal on the diff & I think that was done while still under manufactures 3 year warranty so I’ve never had to use it but what worries me is sods law & the first year I don’t take it out is the year I need it.

It depends what you use the car for and what has already been replaced. Everything that could have been changed has been done on mine, I now don't go on track and do limited mileage so for me I don't think it's worth it.

My warranty ran out in 2006 and I never renewed, although it's not tracked and just used as a road car. The only thing that has happened in those years is a rear view mirror leak and a diff seal leak so not worth a warranty nor the excess for my car. If I had of saved the warranty money, I would have at least £7k now!

If Cecil was my only car & a daily driver then I would most likely continue the monthly DDs but since mine has always had BMW/Mondial Warranty throughout its life (until last year) and it's my other, other car used for only 6 months of the year, it's simply not economically viable It becomes prohibitively expensive for Cecils with over 60K miles + many parts are excluded when you pass the 60K mark.

I'm not sure how they can do this if you have a monthly policy as it doesn't end! No renewal necessary.
