CSL exhaust "Rasp" ??
Hi there,
Question is, which part of th eexhaust system is it that generates the raspy metallic noise / Is it the centre section, the backbox? I like the noise, sounds quite rude, but would replacing the offending section with an aftermarket item, Miltek for example, retain the charcteristic noise but change it to a deeper sound, rather than being so tinny? Thank ya, in advance.

I think the Rasp is from the Backbox!
The rattle is from the Cats! |

Can only comment on experience in my M3, i had a supersprint lightweight back box and the rasp went, sounded great when giving it some but did my head in when not, deep boom at mid range, put an x pipe on and no improvement although there is an x pipe with resonator so that might of got the rasp back.

As already said, It is the backbox that causes the rasp i believe. When i had the 100cell cats fitted, it simply added a din at certain revs noisewise! I would love to have a Supersprint or Gruppe M fitted but they are just that little bit too much for everyday driving and carrying the missus around! |

I also had a really bad rattle when i had the 100cell cat fitted - i think it was the two cat sections touching or maybe resonating against the exhaust/transmission tunnel. It lessened when warm but never completely went away
