Default Question regarding repairs, mods etc

How much do you do to your car from a simple bulb change to a full on engine strip???

I'm fortunate enough to have run my own garage, worked in garages and now work in parts and occasionally get my hands dirty back on the spanners in a garage so will pretty much tackle anything (not too keen on body work and won't touch internals of a gearbox)..

I see plenty of threads with what people have done to their cars over the weekend and just wondered who likes to tinker and who hates the thought of it (or hasn't got the confidence)...

I like to do quite a bit myself.
Served my time as a mechanic back in the late 80's early 90's so actually fixed stuff rather than replace it.
I dont do too much with the CSL as its on warranty but over the years have rebuild countless Cosworths from simple jobs like a head gasket to full blown engine and gearbox rebuilds.
I havent put a pit in the garage for nothing

New spring going onto the CSL tonight, fix the parrot kit as its taking a hissy fit and change the front bumper at the weekend.

I can do anything I want to mine with my experience and my own workshop, yet I choose not to simply because of the history and value of the car. It's not what's important to me but what's important to whoever might buy it one day. Of course this means taking it to Elms to get a good job.

This is because of the value and collectability of the car, wouldn't have this attitude if I owned an E92 for example, I do things to that myself.

I'm in full agreement with Pooky, if you haven't got a warranty then fair enough, if you that way inclined get the spanners out.
As for me personally I am a total incompetent when it comes to the practicalities of doing, therefore I don't! I could probably write a good how to manual, but as for doing, forget it!

I struggle to change a wheel or fill up the washer fluid. Hopeless. Wish it were not the case, as maintaining my CSL is expensive..

I love tinkering with cars. At 18 I took my escort Mexico apart and did a nut and bolt resto that included new chassis legs and inner wings, in the next week or so my brembo bbk is going on the csl and Im looking forward to that. I'm the sort of person that can't bring myself to pay people for things I know I can do!
