Default Went to look at my first CSL - some questions

Hi All

Just back from a viewing on a vehicle, and this has raised some questions:

Test drive went fine- a good 20 minutes (nice noise!)

Gear changes were fairly brutal in S5 (or was it S6) in sport mode, although they were smooth if you came off the throttle slightly before changing.

bearing in mind it was circa -2C, I noticed that the water temp gauge didn't make it to half way - it was more like halfway between the top of the blue cold and the first dot (first and second dots for normal temp)
Oil temp was at the halfway point (or just under)
Normal? or potential issues (thermostat or something?)

Drivers seat didn't tip forward to allow access into the back - seller said they would fix this

one side of the front headlamps had condensation (non xenons) - would this just be a seal to put right?

The rear seats had quite a few scuff marks, mainly where the seat belts hook up to seat bases - looks like the thin paint had worn off, only cosmetic, but is this typical for CSL's?

Car was mid 50's with regards to mileage. Has full BMWSH and up until last month was under Mondial warranty.

Would the above issues be typical, bearing in mind this is the first I have seen.

Thanks in advance

The gear change is supposed to be brutal. You shouldn't lift off as it slips the clutch and wears it out!

As for the rest, I'm not sure, it depends how picky you are I suppose. Maybe go view another for comparison

Nordschleife, there's only two barriers to worry about - the ones on the left and the ones on the right .

Temp gauge is not right....it should get to temp easily within 20 mins. it should stay in the middle and only move very slightly if at all. I’d want that sorted

That was my thought - all the cars I've had get up to the centre of the temp gauge fairly quickly (and many manufacturers employ a fiddle factor to ensure that it stays there, unless temps really do begin to go awry)

Could be as simple as a thermostat allowing water to run to the radiator when not required, but that would result in lower engine efficiencies and reduced fuel consumption.

Enough to put me off? I'm not sure but at 27K i would have expected better...

Anyone with the itch to sell - please PM - beer aswell as cash awaits

Just a thought. The rubbing on the rear seat could be due to where a baby seats buckle fastens ? Taking his grandson for a spin ???
