Default Anyone run an E60 M5 as a daily?

The AUC prices are really tempting on these at the moment, anyone run one as a daily?

My other options a 335i saloon/touring.

They are an awesome car but the petrol consumption is absolutely insane.

I thought my e39 M5 was bad but the e60 is a lot worse apparently

If you can stomach that, go for it as long as it has warranty!

Funnily enough a mate of mine had one for quite a while, he said it was a great car, especially with the Evolve exhaust (sounded stunning, very Lambo esque).

As a daily it would kill the wallet, he often struggled to see more than 13/14 mpg as an average, it's a very thirsty beast, round town it seemed to end up in single figures, he never saw more than 20mpg even on a long run.

Funnily enough he ditched it, then got himself a mint E39 M5 which he now has supercharged it!

I personally think there are better daily options than a E60 M5.

My current daily has done 27ish mpg and I will tend to do about 7000 miles in the car PA. With the current fuel prices I'm looking at about an extra 1k per year in fuel.

What else do you feel I should be considering instead?

1k per year extra isn't too bad a I suppose.

Do you have a CSL as a weekend car?

buy a 3, 5 or 7 series diesel

If it were me, I'd have something special for the weekends / summer evenings / track days if you're inclined that way and a crappy hack to get to and from work.

Depends on your budget really, and if you want a 'nice' car to get to work in or if you already have a nice weekend toy?

I have the CSL for when the weather is good, or when I feel like I need a blast in her.

I was running a knackered old E Class Merc for a few years as my daily, which i've just changed to a 1.2 Corsa with Air Con, which is perfect for the daily grind, plus it keeps the CSL all nice for when I do want to break it out

I have an E46 M3 SMG as a fun car which is undergoing some surgery to make it track ready at the moment.

The daily has been a facelift 130i for the past year but it's just too small. I'm not going to join the diesel clan at any cost. Either I go for a 335i preferably manual or an E60 M5. If I could find an E61 AUC in my budget, I think it'd be mine now but I can't.

It's really only the fuel that's lingering at the moment, 335i will probably do 25ish in the same journey compared to the E60 at 17ish. I will get a newer car in the E9x though...hmm decision.

The 335s are great. I get around 24-27mpg on the highway and my car is tuned.
