M3 CSL Code Reader
I am considering buying a code reader and hopefully one that can reset my engine warning light which came on last week. Who can tell me the best/cheapest one that reads and resets?

Most little fault code readers will suffice to just clear the fault code.
Ill check our automotive mags in work tomorrow and give you my opinion. |

Technically speaking you can 'download' the BMW factory tool and then install it into any laptop running a 32 bit windows system and then just buy an OBDII USB cable and do a bit of modification and it'll work just like the real thing. But to do this you'd need a bit of knowledge with computers.
Alternatively, search on ebay UK for BMW GT1 (on any laptop) plenty of guys out there selling this kit. Or quicker still, find BMW INPA EDIABAS (version 4.4.7 will do for M3 CSLs - you don't need 5.0.2) online and buy a 10Euro cable from ebay ... much easier to use than the GT1 and lot quicker too in clearing codes and reading fault memories. The diagnostic section on bimmerforums.com is a good place to start learning. |
