has anyone got an idea of how much a cat D record affects the csl's value?

Apparently worth about 70% of it's value if it wasn't a cat D -so Lawsy was on the money.

Also a Cat D is not easy to sell as it will put off a lot of people

Sounds near enough to me. I always reckon on -25% for a cat D.
