What is wrong with this picture ?
Just had my Insp II service today, and according to the dealer technician, the coil spring that I recently had replaced by an indie is fitted incorrectly - he said it's not sitting correctly on the rubber pad.
I can't see anything wrong myself - what do you think ? I can't see any obvious way that it could be fitted differently.

Yep, you have a rear spring that hasn't actually broken!

You can turn the spring but it will achieve nothing., I reckon the tech is just looking where the old spring was sat, (see the outline) reason it is different is because your old spring was, I presume, snapped.
Check its seated properly and if so its ok. Looks ok to me from that photo. |

Looking at the parts diagram on realoem, the rubber spring pad just sits on top of a collar that protrudes from the wishbone. The spring is definitely located around the collar, firmly against the wishbone, with the pad between them, as you can see from the pic. I really can't see how else it could be fitted. Saves me the embarrassment of having a moan at the indie and them having a look and telling me to ! Although I just noticed in the photo that the sodding brake sensor wire has been left unclipped so I'll have to take the wheel off again and refit it sometime
