Default Prices of low mileage CSL's

Hi All.
I have just noticed that Cosmic Boys lovely 2995 mile car has sold and it would appear to have gone for over £50000. Does anyone know the actual amount?. I sold a SG 470 mile 54 plate car in 2008 for £45000 and would have thought something like that deserves a £50000 price tag now but 2995 miles is not that far away from 10000 miles which I have sold two of in the past two weeks. Silver Grey 04 plate 10800 mile car sold for £36000 and the black 10400 mile 04 plate car which I have just taked a deposit on for £37500. How can the extra £13000 be added on for 7000 miles difference. I have read the post and appreciate it has been detailed to the highest degree but either I have just given away two really cheap CSLs or I need to start detailing my low mileage cars. I would have sold a 3000 mile car for £40000 and my black detailed 54 plate 6350 mile car sold for the asking price of £37000 shows how a 3000 mile car selling for over £50000 was a lucky sale and a private no warrantied lucky sale if ever Ive seen one.
Please dont get me wrong, I have been trying to preserve the price of CSLs for the past 5 years of dealing in them, I Just cant see how the 7000 miles difference between my cars and the 3000 mile car is justified. Every 1000 miles done in the car would amount to a huge amount of depreciation and frankly you wouldnt buy it to drive it unless money wasnt an option.Anyone think I should put my black 10000 mile car up to £40000?maybe with a serious detail it might make £45000. Just kidding but seriously these cars in left hand drive form fetch considerably more than RHD cars, around 10-15000 pounds more mileage for mileage.

I know of quite a few sub 20000 mile rhd cars that will be coming available in the next year and I dont see the prices of these depreciating if theyre not driven but could the prices have started to rise already on the very low mileage cars. Seeing as they arent made anymore and the fact that they are shrinking in numbers for rhd cars ie cars that are stolen or written off and not repairable ( I know of 12 cars that are no longer with us and have heard alot more have have been exported to race series in europe) I would imagine theres probably only 350 cars left on the road in the uk.
It will eventually happen when the prices go throught the roof as the did with the E30 evo sport which were all around 13000 to 18000 for a really well sorted car back in 1998-2000. Now the cars have all covered alot more miles and are double that for sub 10000 kilometre cars. Wish Id have bought one back then but went the Integrale route. The CSL is the only reason I dont have an Integrale now although I will have another one day soon unless they keep going up in value. I sold my last yellow 24000 mile Evo 2 in 2007 for 18500 and that would be worth easily 25000 now possibly 30000.

maybe see some of you at the ring in September

Its not about you the seller its about the buyer....how do I know, I just paid a very high price for a 565 mile CSL.

I didn't want a 10,000 mile one simple as that. I could have bought a 15,000 mile one for $20k less but didn't even think twice about paying the extra.

I suspect the buyer of the $50k car felt as I did, that they were prepared to pay the premium for the low mileage and great condition.

Its also 7005 miles away from a 10,000 mile car!!

Nick

face facts , you have been selling your CSLs for well under the asking price for sometime now! just a quick calculation shows me you have not made the most by almost £165K in just 14 months.

Time to take up gardening seriously!

Hi I have just joined the forum.

As the owner of a 3k miles csl im happy to see their value is still holding up very well.

I bought my car 3 years ago from a BMW dealer here in Northern Ireland for £40k. I thought it was hefty price back then.....but the car had only covered 495 miles and I simply had to have it.
It was a case of never finding another so close to new condition that made my mind up. I have never once regretted buying the car.

However much they increase in value I still dont think I would sell mine!!

Hi Conor,

Nice to see someone else from the province on here. You're motor sounds mint, but only 2500 miles in 3 years I take it you have a collection of fun stuff to drive then. I've had mine for 5 years and put over 40k onto it, mainly on track, and loved every minute of it.

Hi Justin,

I'm sure your csl is great fun on the track! I wouldn't take mine to a track day as I would hate to put a mark on it. I also have an NI reg 3dr Sierra Cosworth with low miles,a group 1 spec Mk2 RS2000 road car,and a group 4 mk2 escort rally car. Never really get time to drive any of them, however intend to do a few rally's this summer in the new Group 4 escort.

I take it you go to Kirkistown trackdays?

Wow, nice collection of Fords, sounds like you're well into your rally cars. How did you find you're way into a CSL? When you look at the price of low mileage E30 M3s now you are onto a real winner in a few years time, if you decide to move it on.

Used to do Kirkistown trackdays all the time but only do 1 or 2 a year now. I leave the CSL on the continent for a good portion of the year and use it on a few of the euro tracks Nordschleife, Spa etc.
