What do you use?

I'm looking to get a decent sat nav with European maps on it, I've had a little old Garmin in the past and it's never been that reliable, it won't update and to be honest it's caused more problems on trips than I care to remember!

I'm looking at this Tom Tom which looks a bargain to me?

Anyone got any thoughts, idea's, suggestions etc please?

I don't like over complicated things as quite frankly I can't be doing with too much technology going on all the time!

I use a Garmin with European map load - i find it superb for trips to the Ring. I occasionally have to hold it out the window on startup as it struggles to acquire a signal through the Climate Comfort screen - fine after that

My missus has a Tom Tom and i find its user interface fu*king atrocious compared to the Garmin - and it won't dim enough at night making it very irritating indeed!

I use an ageing GARMIN nuvi 310 over here, across Europe and in North America (SD card maps) Really simple/clear interface, accurate touch screen, very intuitive to use (like an Apple product), very clear maps, easily transferable between cars (the CSL, my daily or even a rent-a car) and compact enough to strap onto my mountain bike

. Avoid the WIDESCREEN version as they are cumbersome to mount & store

I use a Tom Tom for both Europe and USA and i can't fault it. It is easy to use and i'd have another one.

I have a TomTom 720 - I find it brilliant.

IMHO don't really need the IQ routes and ALG, and I don't find the hands free much good .. so you could just get an XL .. but it's barely any cheaper at the moment (I got my Dad an XL with Europe maps for £109 before Christmas)

I use a Garmin, directions are good, however I dislike it when it diverts around a problem but then when you get there you have to refresh the route in case the problem has gone way and the original route is now free. Why can't it know this, not sure if any do this but I'd buy one if it did. Mine has UK maps but does have major EU roads, enough to get me to the ring.

I use Syrius and Strabo (Syrius is better piece of kit as good battery life)
