hello from greece..
well hello from me too..
im nick from greece and just joined this forum... i dont have a csl but i am using a csl intake on my car and a lot of other things such as a set of acralite pistons with 12,5:1 cr and a pair of schrick cams 304/296-12,5mm lift and a load of other things... basically everything is changed besides the interior ( i am looking for recaro pp or sparco or cobra seats at this time ) and the roof witch is going to be changed also with the cf one from the csl... a question to you all guys.. i have seen in a lot of pics that some of the cars in the csl-cup and in some in the usa, are utilizing a hole in the left side headlamp of the car. the purpose is for more fresh air directly into the intake is it good for street use? any drawbacks ? what happens with rain? is it something different in the intake? does anybody has some pics from a car like this but inside the engine bay??? i am thinking of fabricating something like that in my car.. its not a race car though... well that's it for my 1st post here glad i joined lots of info so far!!! Nick, I think I have seen the front end you are talking about. I'm fairly sure it is two additional vents in a CSL airdam to blow cold air on to the front brakes for race cars. Not needed for road cars, however we could start the AP / Alcon v's std argument up if we wanted some fun! |

with regards to air intake thru headlamp , i saw a couple of cars with this setup at croft lately ,both noticed a drop in performance at the top end .trouble with this is that it causes a ram air effect when the car is designed to have still air in the filter box ,this is why standard csl intake is not direct .to get any joy with this setup the car would have to be mapped for correct fuelling at all different speeds etc ,then you have different wind/weather conditions .the cars i saw trying this obviously were running lean at full revs which is suicidefor an engine.bmw designed it like this so best to leave it alone i think .if it was possible to do it and get better results im sure they would of done it .
