E92 M3 for a week..so far
good afternoon gents
I've been given an E92 M3 as a loaner while my CSL is in the bodyshop, and i must say that so far i am completey un-impressed. to begin with it felt very quick however now i am convinced thats due to how soft and sloppy it is - and we all know how quick a loaner is i had a bit of a tussle up with a 360 spider yesterday afternoon - i was just keeping up on the straights, but corners no hope, and my GF said it felt dangerous at speed compared to the CSL. and needless to say i would have been all over it's ass in the CSL so those of you that were contemplating the switch IMHO dont bother. I want my CSL back pronto. |

How come some people get an E92 M3 as a courtesy car and I get an Astra Diesel!!! HTF does that one work out?
Good work though! And nice to hear the CSL still feels better! |

Wellsway only had diesels in, whilst my badger imprint is removed. Have a 318 version, sob!

they were trying to give me a merc A class, then E class. you just have to keep saying no, i wont accept a lower spec car. i said i pay to keep a CSL on the road, so thats what i want or maybe a Porsche, but only a 911 less than 24hrs later a nice shiney 08 plate M3 delivered

I had one on order and cancelled it after I was loaned one by my dealer over a weekend. They weren't very impressed when I said I'd rather keep my CSL.
Great car but not as great and I've probably saved myself £25k to fund the purchase and £15-20k depreciation.

We're up to £15k invested into our E92 M3 and have to say other than the engine (475bhp so a huge difference) the rest of it is still far behind a CSL.

But the DSG 'box is a big leap forward imo . . . . . (ok, so it requires NO skill whatsoever to make seamless up and downchanges, but it is mightily impressive all the same)

ok will someone lend me their CSL for a week and take this piece of "built to please the septic’s" shit away i hate it - my car is not ready until the end of next week. based on this i cant see myself buying a BMW again other than a CSL
things i hate? the seat belt thing that passes you the belt, it misses every time the shit version of warm up lights the dashboard made with old man Rover style vinyl the suspension - how come something soo soft can hit every bump in the road and send it straight up you spine no torch J its only done 28k but feels old and sloppy the a/c knob should be the stereo knob its now full of sand (whoops) things I like? It has grunt Bonnet bulge Door mirrors I drive radio display That fact I didn’t pay 50 odd grand for it Last edited by jibm; 21-08-2009 at 05:12 PM. |

I had one for a day, just made me realise how good the CSL is. There was no involvement - just felt like a passenger aiming it along the road. This will always be a problem for any CSL owner, once you've had a car that is so connected to the road, anything else feels weird. Now that my CSL lives under a nice warm cover in the garage, and only comes out to play when the weather is nice - I have an RS4 for the "normal" stuff, an after a weekend in the CSL, I nearly crash the RS4 on the first corner come monday morning!!
