Arrow Wheel bolts torque - now 140Nm

Hello all,

If you remember some years ago BMW had increased the tightening torque specification for all BMWs to 120Nm (from 100Nm).

There was another update that I came to know recently that now the tightening torque of the wheel bolts is updated to 140Nm.

Somehow makes sense as I saw a few times the rear wheel bolts of the M5 to be a bit 'loose' compared to the front ones.

Porsche torque their wheel nuts to 130Nm but the bolts are 19mm as opposed to 17mm so perhaps the increase in force is used to offset the smaller diameter wheel nut.

Take it that includes nuts As quite a few on here have changed to stud and nut to make wheel changing at track days easier.

I wonder if this will lead to more snapped locking nuts and issues with people unable to get their wheels off.

Hello,

Would this apply only to the new turbo-engined models which are generally more torquey?

Kind regards,
Alex
