New member looking for csl & advice
Hi all, i am on the lookout for a csl so have a couple questions. I have done some research but wanted thoughts / views on service history & warranty's. If a car has been serviced at correct intervals & correct inspections what are peoples views on main dealer against specialist servicing? Secondly i would like to have a warranty on the csl & having looked into pricing with bmw noticed that prices increase drastically over 60k miles, i see warranty direct do a main dealer backed warranty for about a third of the price! Again, thoughts, views or any experience of using this warranty pls? Any other advice also welcome.
Thanks in advance |

Many are hung up on dealership servicing although I think as the cars get older (most are 10 years old now) independents are acceptable (to me at least). Let us face it many do not know what they are looking at in any depth.
"CSL ...?????.. No sir you are best trying Mercedes...." "Errr it is the BMW M3 CSL" "Oh sorry, I will put you through" The OEM warranty is the one to have. I do not think many have anything else but again I am sure many will just keep the money in the bank. I have had mine since 2007 and only made one claim for springs so the money could have been better saved. I am not sure what is for sale at the moment apart from BMW Hexagon but buying from someone on the forum is probably your best bet. Pip |

Warranty direct only pay 50% of parts over 600000 miles about £10000/year

Thanks for views / help so far.
I have seen a csl on here a few weeks back that i believe is still for sale with around 68k miles for around £25995 ono, last couple services carried out by B&M Care in Leeds & JC Racing in Thirsk. I am down south, anyone heard or know much about either of these places? As for the warranty, i ran a quote for an OEM one & it was £2300 - £2500 for over 60k miles depending on comprehensive or driveline cover!! I feel thats a tad steep to say the least. Didnt realise warranty direct only paid 50% of parts though!!!!! Decisions Decisions ............. |

BMW warranty becomes harder to stomach once the mileage of the car in question rises above 60k miles - unless the warranty is still running on a monthly instalment schedule.
I haven't had warranty for almost 3 years and have not had any need for it (touch wood) and have saved at least £3.5k
