Default The inlet pipe popped off

The inlet pipe popped off last night at a trackday at knockhill
pushed it back on but after 1 lap off it popped again

Trackday wasted still time for an upgrade

The pipe broke at the neck is this were they all go ?

I have popped a Jubilee-Clamp (hose clip) round it so it cant pop off till the upgraded metal pipe arrives.

Just checked Mark.

The Z4 has a different part which makes sense as the intercooler position is different in the different chassis.

Have fun with the small beast !

Is it part #5 on this diagram?

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=13_1185

Am I right in assuming that if you are on boost and then lift off the throttle the charged air will be directed through items 13 and 14 into the exhaust? and if so, why is there two bypass pipes rather than one?

Thanks

Yes Part 5 is the pipe.

The other 2 parts are dump valves, diverter valves, Blowoff valves are used to prevent compressor surge, a phenomenon that readily occurs when lifting off the throttle of an unvented, turbocharged engine. When the throttle plate on a turbocharged engine closes, the high pressure air in the intake system is trapped by the throttle and a pressure wave is forced back into the compressor. The compressor wheel slows rapidly and may even stall and the driver will notice a fluttering air sound. The rapid slowing or stalling stresses the turbo and imparts severe turbo lag if the driver accelerates immediately after the surge event.

i broke 7 of these in as many weeks, the last oem one broke with a bmw tech in the car.
It all snowballed from there as i booked it into Spec R for my custom cooler and hard pipes,, then had to make them work harder.
