Hi Guys

Got in the car today and it wouldnt start. Plenty of life in the battery (air con/lights etc seem fine) but engine wont even attempt to turn over

Any ideas?

Try charging the battery on trickle or boost. It will have enough to turn lights on/ air con etc but if there isnt enough power in the battery it wont even attempt to start, just a click noise. The CSL has a smaller battery than M3 and short journeys will drain it, even kill it eventually. Sounds like an excuse to give it a good run.

You need 12V + to get the starter solenoid going so its often likely to activate everything else.

Get a multimeter across the terminals.

A healthy battery will show over 12V with the car not started - if its less, possibly a new battery!

Jump it, and if the voltage is less than 13.5V, its likely the alt is not charging it.

Battery is fine, and is only a month old. Not really sure what the issue is. Car has been recovered to BMW this morning for diagnotics. Hope it's nothing serious. Thankfully I got a years warranty with the car!

BMW also found a water leak from a hose. Hose was ordered today and is bleing fitted with starter motor in the morning, should have it back fairly eary. Warranty are paying for starter motor, and the dealer I bought the car from are paying the difference for the hose.
