Default diff problem

Hi guys, my csl has done 25k miles, and when i drive it today it makes some cranking noise. i went to the garage to get it check, and the result is when you try to turn the rear wheel around in N gear, the diff makes some cranking noise, but when he try to drive it on the ramp(the rear wheel in gear turing the wheel) it doesnt make any noise.

Anyone experience this? many thanks

plenty of diffs changed on here, if it clunks at all I would say FoOKEd
mine clunked at slow speeds when pulling up or setting off, it probably clunked at other times but I half deaf

25k miles = not driven hard enough or properly .. Get on track and I'm sure it will sort it's self out

the diff in my standard e46 m3 started clonking/creaking usually when pulling away at low speeds just as you're describing.

started doing it about 70k miles - towards the end of a ring trip, continued to do it and was still doing it when i moved it on into the trade at 94k miles.

did a few trackdays and plenty of ring laps in that time.

i reckon it'll be fine

good call, forgot about that. i had mine changed recently which got rid of the low speed rumbling on full lock that the diff used to do. think was about £80 from memory for the recommended uprated stuff
