Can't sell, won't sell
Have many of you have thought about selling, made the psychological leap, then changed your mind...
I think I'll end up having my CSL for a long, long time... it could be the end of my serial car ownership... my wife should be happy... although, I keep looking at old mk 2 Jaguars for some stupid reason.... |

Yes! Put the csl up for sale last year... then swiftly took it off for sale. It was financial reasons and I ended up in a state of depression by the thought of losing the CSL. Makes you realise how much you the car.
9 years in May she has been my baby - and will be for many many more years to come - I would sell the house before she goes (or the husband/kids) |

Undecided what to do myself, total dilemma. Using up too much of my time thinking about it.
I have a lovely 25k miles fully optioned SG CSL. It has protective film over exterior carbon parts & paintwork, even inside the carbon parts have protective film. It has AP Racing front BBK and Supersprint centre section and cat. It's only even been looked after by Murketts and now Elms. For my needs, this is exactly what I wanted, best car I've ever owned. I decided to go totally over the top and give it a proper pampering, so here's what's happened in the last 4 months: 4x new Michelin Super Sports 4x wheels refurbed Insp II. Whilst it was at Elms for the Insp II, I asked Emma/Gareth to find every single thing they could, however minor, and let me know. Most of the stuff that came up was purely advisory / cosmetic and one to lookout for the future, but in a bizarre decision I gave the go ahead to get every single thing rectified. So now, the spend from the last 4 months is something like £5.5k. It's had new AP Racing front discs, new front AP caliper carriers, new OEM CSL rear calipers, new OEM Rear Exhaust Back Box, o/s inner tie rod and KDS alignment, brake fluid change, coolant change, n/s repeater because some condensation was bugging me, even some tyre mobility kit. Oh and it's also going about to have the sub frame done through BMW too, that's a £3-3.5k job? At the end of this, I am left with a car which for me is pretty much perfect. But and there's always a but. A friend of a friend has received a very low trade offer on his Merc CLK Black Series which he's thinking of selling. I'm considering selling the CSL and moving in to the Merc next, I like that car. But I just can't bear the thought of selling the CSL, especially after the last 4 months. Every time I think about putting up an ad, I can't go ahead with it. I remember CSLgirl's story and did think at the time that something similar might happen with me one day! Now it's happening.... |

Your car sounds amazing!!! Maybe you need to advertise it and then you will feel the CSL love and realise you can't go through with it. I will be honest... I had a couple of really nice genuine people interested and then I had people asking the most stupidest of questions which really grated my shit and that is when I thought a big F*** OFF. This is MY car and you know what.. .you can't buy one!! As it is showing with the amount of people looking. You want a CSL with this, that and the other... uh uh.... they are that rare now you just can't specify I want this and that... you have to see what is out there and make a choice from the small selection available. If you want a Focus with low mileage, 4 owners, FSH.. plenty of fish in the sea... CSL's................ as rare as errrrrr can't think of a fish comparison that is rare... got it.. an Oarfish! (you know you will google it...) |

Damm, I did google it.
Shame you are not coming on the trip, you need to think again, just like you did when selling Cesil. If you want a Focus with low mileage, 4 owners, FSH.. plenty of fish in the sea... CSL's................ as rare as errrrrr can't think of a fish comparison that is rare... got it.. an Oarfish! (you know you will google it...) [/quote] |

I can just imagine it - "I'm a bit worried that it doesn't have a hifi upgrade! And where are the cup-holders?" Mine's going nowhere until they hit at least 964 RS values |

The other issue I have is looking at pics of cars I have previously owned, some of them have really gone up in value and I get teased "can't believe you sold yours, look what they're worth now !!!" The CSL will inevitably follow a similar trajectory. |
