On the hunt...
Like so many of you on here I have always wanted one and stupidly never done it. So the time has come...
Am on the hunt for a 30kish miles SG with all the options, and a full bmw service history so that i can put a warranty on it. I don't plan to track it and only drive at the weekends. And maybe ferry the kids around at the weekend if the other car is not available. There will be strict rules if they are coming in the car. I will also need to check that I can 2 child seats in the back! With help from all if you on here I have managed to do a lot of reach of what to look for and which kind of cars to avoid. So if anyone has any ideas pls shout! There are a few at NJ that I might pop over to have a look at to get an idea of condition price etc. Does anyone know LJ54 PFJ? Thanks |

The car comes with two sets of ISO fixing in the back for child seats, some o us have removed them and replaced with eyes for full harness belts, Have you not looked at a black one more suttle , good luck with your search and hope you get on track one day and find out what the car was made for

Hi Tinker and Welcome.
Not the most child friendly of cars in my opinion, very easily marked and scuffed getting children in and out could be very difficult given preservation of the front seats. LJ54 PJF - See: http://www.cslregister.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9206 If you want to know PM me. |

Agree, I'd treat the rear seats as rare use only really. If you want to protect the front ones anyway, they are that delicate.

Thanks for the advice... as and when they do venture into the back I have a couple of seats protector things that i will use... maybe stick a blanket or something across the back to avoid any kind of damage. I went to have a look at one today that Hexagon BMW have... 40K!!!! they have someone coming down to look at it today. CL04 CSL was the plate i think... i am sure it was on eBay of all places about 3/4 months ago... it was in decent condition as you would expect for 20k miles... but that is def the wrong price! But it was good to go and have a look around the car to get an idea of size etc again... given the seats are so lean there is plenty of room in the back but I will have to be careful as you say...

Good luck with your search! Definitely SG ftw !!
kids seats in the back - no problem.. Never any shoes on in the car, nor food or drink (unless an emergency) |

Remember that many of them can now only have 1 year warranty added before they hit 10 years old, from that point no more renewal with BMW.
If you want to use the back seats regularly get an e9x IMO, the plastic bit in the middle of the back seats will split, the backs of the front seats mark very easily and access to the back isn't great.
