Oil Level on the 1M
I had the full car updated at bmw so its got all the latest sofware on the car.
Now i am having issues with the oil level sensor Run the car home around 11 miles all ok drive another 4 miles and parked up for around 30min after starting the car it said top up as soon as possible after 100 yards oil was in between min and max Called BMW and was told bring it in started the car and the oil was at min please add 1lt of oil on the way to bmw it jumped to full 2min later half full cant make its mind up Bmw drained all the oil out and it was between min and max so added 1/2 lt of oil and said the test on the oil level sensor was ok Could it be the update ???? Drove 4 miles home oil was showing full then 5 min later half full i am not happy as you can imagine Read the codes and guess what Fault P2F9E Thermal oil level sensor Back to BMW on monday hope they can fix it this time. I even gave them these pictures i expected them to change the sensor the car is under warranty. They even put the oil taken out to mesure back in the car Has any one has this before ? |

Mine throws a wobbly too. It showed it just above min a couple of weeks ago so added a ltr, took it for a spin and still showed min. Out for another longer drive and bang in the middle. Sitting in the car now and read your post so checked it and it's on max???

If you were to disconnect the battery for a short period of time and reconnect, that would presumably reboot all the electronic systems in the car and the problem may go away.

Mine would do it too.
Hasnt used a drop since the new turbos were fitted. It used to go from red to yellow and then back to full. BMW are a joke when it comes to problem solving. I would not be happy with them putting the old oil back in. Thats cheap! It defo worth taking pics when it shows a problem as if it fixes itself before you get to bmw tech, they look at you like you are imagining the issue. |

I would insist that they replace the oil with new stuff even if they made me pay for it tho- only takes one piece of contamination to cause big problems further down the line. |

Cleared the faults
Took the earth of the battery for 20 min and it looks like its working as it should now will update if it fails again. Changed the oil as well. |
