ITG Air filter Caution
I received a mail today from the shop who's fitting my new diff and prepping the car for the upcoming track days.
They have told me that the ITG Filter is knackered and it seems as if it has been letting shit past. It was new in Sept 08 and has done no more than 2500 miles. I will be changing it straight away. So i advise people using these filters give them a check over, make sure they are snuggly fitted in your airbox and are clean. This news surprised me. |

Even the OEM BMC filter lets crap through occassionally - the updated filters are better, but the extra foam sealing on the side of the filter can get worn and damaged.
It pays to put extra foam on the airbox sealing lip or just clean the box and filter regularly which is what I do. |

Maybe but 2500 miles isn't much.....I've had ITG on other cars and they have been pretty good to be honest.

Top man Bealo, will be checking that when I get home, straight away. Although mine has only done <500 easy miles.
The ITG filter is supposed to be a 'lifetime' filter, as you can clean it? Maybe worth while taking it up with ITG Bealo? Some photos, receipts etc. Worth a pop, you might get a new one out of it if nothing else, or a refund if you're not wanting to chance it again. Will let you know how I get on when I check mine when I'm home in 4 weeks. |

The garage has advised on a cotton filter (K&N) type, so i will be having one of those fitted and they are going to make it seal all around so nothing can get passed. |

Don't know what the general feeling is for the lads on here roughing it in a field with cold beers though...You imagine the site though, half a dozen CSLs surrounding a load of drunken hoons staggering back from a pub and getting a fire lit! Don't think we'd be the most liked people around! |
