Just trying to obtain insurance for another car. Classic car insurance no claims bonus not recognised hence no discount. Typing this while listening to some crap recording while hanging on the line with some other broker. Sure they do this to rack up your phone bill.

They will only provide a letter quoting 5 years max no claim. Other insurance companies do not recognise no claims bonus from classic car type policies Brokers & insurance companies will not use the central data base to check you have not had a claim. Basically I am having to pay more because the no claims from classic is not recognised and my previous insurer will also only quote a max of five years no claims. This seems to me a scam on their behalf to increase premiums and deter one from moving to another insurance company. |

Thought it was a bit smelly mate.....hence my earlier post, opting out and paying a little more...although I had to fork out for a tracker and the £50k is not guarantee value like CL.

Mmm - thought this might happen.
So 'keeping your no claims on file' means very little if no-one values it. They all make up the no claims process as they go along, needs regulating really. As far as I can tell protected no claims and retaining it if an uninsured driver hits you, all that stuff has no real universal recognition really either. I am not even sure what this central database is and who looks after it. Only hope is to insure via other family members. And if you can't I wouldn't use Classicline. |

Suppose it books down to the agreed value then.
I could save £60 by going elsewhere, but that's not a large enough margin in my opinion.

Your old no claims bonus is only valid if you renew within two years. That's what I was told talking to brokers.
Had my fill with insurance companies. Wife's policy went up by nearly £200 because someone hit her while stationary and the third party has not admitted liability hence there is still a claim against her name. We did not have to pay the excess as her insurance company is holding the other party 100% responsible, but they will not accept a no claim when renewing her policy. |
