I think the guys will endorse the following:

1. Try and view/buy a known forum car where possible
2. Avoid eBay unless it is for a car that is also advertised within a known web community - there may be a reason why it is ONLY advertised on eBay.
3. If you're gut feel is wrong - walk away
4. Be patient - these cars are rare. Of 422, I'd speculate that there will be a story associated with 30-40% of them (including those RIP).
5. Despite the above, cash remains king. Economy is fooked so never EVER pay over odds. Customer is king right now.

Good luck
+1 I agree with Ian again...

I don't agree with that. Good advice would certainly be never to blindly bid on an ebay advert without viewing the car.
Buying a performance car and being a forum geek don't have to go together.

Got there and the car had bird shit all over it, dead flys, spider webs, dirt you name it, it was on the car. Interior was a joke, dirt everywhere. My White shirt after sitting on the car come out brown. I said I thought you cleaned it and he started saying he sells metal not a valeter and I dont care if it sells or not, I'll just cover it and it'll make money in years to come blah blah and got all pissed off. This is a shorten version but honestly pissed off doesn't describe how I feel.

It's even put me off one the state of his. I might end up going for another type of Japanese car but will see once I'm home tomorrow.

Keep looking, the right one will come along sooner or later, to be honest that is typical 'dodgy trader' attitude.

You should have asked him about the 'mileage correction'............

Sorry to hear this. And as Yanto says if it don't feel right.

I saw a mint 9,999K mile car which was "owned" by a BMW HQ Bracknell employee. The problem was nothing said he legally owned the car and the story kept changing about who he got it from and why it had missed a service and was not warranted.

At the moment he offered to hide the fact he owned the car I walked.

Be patient you'll find one.
