Yes they did and I for one don't blame them.

It's ok for regular users of forums to sit in front of their computers, safe with beer in hand, laughing at and throwing replies to these types of threads, but when things really do get serious it's the owners/operators of the site who get have to deal with the shit - and sometimes it's pretty heavy shit.
