Are the other warranty companies worth bothering with or is it best to avoid them and stick the potential cost of them away as an insurance should things go tits up?

EDIT :- Have spoken to BMW warranty and had a quote of £1300 ish p.a. on a car with 70,000 miles on, that's with a £250 excess. Not drastically bad IMO.
This will be down to you how you perceive the risk. I don't want to tempt fate but when the original BMW warranty ran out I did not extend it. Touch wood I have had very little go wrong. Others I believe on here have had their cars rebuilt.

Someone will come along to chat about how good warranties are & the options available. There will be a thread somewhere on this topic.

Thank you for that.

I think it's pretty safe to say it won't be my local dealer. Called in to see the service guy ref servicing costs. Sales bloke bagged me whilst i was in the showroom,

Him :- " Can I help you sir?"

Me :- " Possibly mate, looking for some info on a M3 CSL"

Him :- "Is that a current model Sir?"

The service guy was about as knowledgeable so will be avoiding that place for certain.

Another step nearer ownership completed today

Pension paperwork arrived the other day with the final figs on. Saw the accountant today to sort out the best way of sorting the tax liabilities ( they're fairly sortable as I work for my own LTD Co so I can defer salary etc and move things about a bit. All above board.)

So, all forms signed etc and all I have to do now is sit back and be patient, I don't do patience.

A bit like Wallace and Grommit today, it was a Grand Day Out

First of all, a HUGE thanks to Peter (Trawler )

I took the Mini to 1320 down St Neots way for an oil and filter change and Peter was kind enough to bring his car down to let me actually have a look at one for real as opposed to pictures and videos and also was good enough to take me out for a ride.

It's ok for you lot, you know what the cars are like! I had an idea but it was nowhere near the reality.

Not going to go on about it here as it'd be like preaching to the converted however, to say I was absolutely amazed would be the understatement of the year. The noise is wonderful, the acceleration and handling capabilities are maybe best described as mind numbing.

My Mini isn't what you'd call a slouch but it was, to put it kindly, a bit on the underwhelming side after going in Peters.

Anyhow, time for the obligatory photo,
