We used to do that. Cut the pipes flush with the rear box, and one of the centre pipes. The new flanges do not come in the correct size though, as the pipes are 2 different diameters. So even the BMW flanges have to be machined out.

Its quite labour intensive too, drop the whole exhaust, cut and re-weld the pipes. And you are only replacing the flanges like for like, so chances are they will crack again!

No worries, I'll update a picture tomorrow. I'll check what the current price is too.

As promised here are the photos of the kits we use. There is no need to cut the exhausts at all, the oversized clamps fit over the flanges, with the inserts then being fitted to ensure the correct size.

They are excellent quality, very heavy duty & we dont anticipate any issues with them.

I would say the 2 rings that are in half fit round the pipe and hold it there

Mark you're absolutely correct

The flanges are large enough to go over the
pipes in the entirety. Once over the pipes you then fit the 2 half circle parts back into the flange. These then fit flush against the back of the flared bits of the pipes.

The original BMW one is used on the outer pipe centre section, as there is no flared pipe there, and its smaller diameter anyway. 2 new gaskets (silly not to do them whilst you're there), 4 bolts and job done.

There is no welding involved at all. Once you have the old flanges removed, its about 10 minutes to get it all fitted. Hardest part is removing the old flanges, assuming they are still relatively intact.

As for the query on prices, Im fairly new to this forum and not sure on rules. Can I post prices here? They're not for sale in the sense that we have loads to get rid of, but if people are interested We can try to accomodate the forum members.

As a side note if say, 10 of you got together for a bulk buy I'm sure I could try to get the price down a little more.

The bit I'm not clear on is how the BMW clamp grips the outer centre pipe (the one without the flared end) ?
