I can't offer you any advice on the E9x M3 as I've not driven one. A few folks I know have, and V10 M5's and when they get back into a CSL from the moment the sit in those seats, it's a different experience altogether.
Obviously nowhere near as exclusive as the CSL and as such, depreciate like a bastard! (How a bastard depreciates I don't know but some clever person will be along in a bit with a suitable emoticon/smilie or something) I have wee moment where I think about the E9x M3, only the other day I was looking at 4 doors, for when little ones come along in a couple of years but I just don't think it'll cut it where the CSL does. As has been mentioned, running costs are a bit off-putting too one thing is the RFL before throwing fuel in her. Just seems a step in the wrong direction Bryce, sorry. But listen to the lads who have tried it, and come back. They know better than me. |

A friend of mine has had a grey manual E9x M3 and now has the DCT Alpine Edition version (incidentally he was also the former owner of that famous/infamous cat D CSL that's been for sale for a while by its current owner! He's also owned two other CSLs).
I've had a drive of both and I liked them! I think I liked the manual car more as the dct version was almost 'too easy'! Very smooth gearbox. One could imagine driving them both on an everyday basis but they weren't as visceral as a CSL. But...and it's quite a big "but"....My! They do like a drink! |

As for the experience though, assumign standard car to standard car comparison:
Brakes - E92 win Handling - CSL win Acceleration - E92 win Motorway speeds - E92 win Space - E92 win Practicality - E92 win Track - CSL win Noise - CSL win (nothing beats it IMO even a Lambo) Presence - Draw, those who know the CSL appreciate it, but E92 is more impressive from some angles. Which is better? They are different cars IMO. |

Has anyone here had the opportunity to move from the E46 M3 CS to the E92 M3, or either way Audi RS4 to CSL/E92. |

However, when I get in the CSL it's shocking how removed from the action you are in the E90. CSL is thrilling by comparison.
