longest i have done on a euro trip (distance, not time, blody traffic jams) was Hertfordshire to Nyon which was 160km + 750km = 910km and took 9.5 hours. I did 1.5 hours to Eurotunnel, 2 hours to fuel stop and 6 hours non stop to Nyon.
Rotterdam to Munich is about 830km so i reckon about 8-9 hours. If your ferry docks in the morning, youll be there in Munich for 7pm just bearing in mind you have the autobahn most of the way so you can go faster than we did, (although not much)

Perfect, this ferries overnight are good value as you get a room and a sleep and start the dring at daybreak as well. I did the Harwich-Hook last year On the way to Zandvoort and saved me 3 hours driving and £100 hotel.

I'll probably be looking into this Next time home wih her indoors and when we know what she's working and when we can head out. Iirc, Stranraer to Newcastle is around 3 hours, maybe a tad more if you don't get nailed by the rozzers, 81 in a 60! Gay I know but that was average over 11 miles before they caught up with me... I know, wasn't going fast enough if they caught up with me, |

I've been having a look at the logistics of getting across to the continent.
If you choose to travel the Hull Amsterdam route, it's an overnight (10hr.45min) crossing, departing Hull at 8-30pm. and arriving in Amsterdam at approx. 8.15am. the following morning. The cost is approx. £238 based on; car, driver and passenger, this includes a 2 person cabin. http://www.poferriesoffers.co.uk/ The DFDS ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam is again overnight, considerably cheaper (on a quick look) but adds approx 4hrs to the crossing time departing at 5.30pm. and arriving at 9.30am. (Late start for the journey to Munich) http://www.dfdsseaways.co.uk/ferry-r...-to-amsterdam/ Either route leaves an 8hr. drive on the other side to Munich (so a fair bit of sight seeing involved, albeit fleeting) Conclusion:Arrive Munich 6/7.00/9.00pm. Totally knackered.
