Dan, as I mentioned there is no need to worry at all. If it's used for short journeys it'll do that. It needs longer runs to properly calc the level.

As Shimmy said, mine also does it after TD's but comes back after 30 miles or so.

Sounds like a good excuse to take the carbon intake off and measure it the old fashioned way!

Worth knowing how to do it... did it on mine every so often until had the oil level sensor replaced. (as it was faulty)

While you're there you can clean out the intake trumpets, remove grit in the airbox, check you have the later design air filter etc

Later filter has more sealing/foam round the bottom edge to stop grit getting into the airbox .. see link on here somewhere on how to get at the filter and at:

She's not been out for a while, finally now the roads are clear been too busy, but must go for a blast ASAP, hope yours is going well, must meet up!

Here's some info on Oil level checks from the pages of the CSL Supplement booklet, that might be of help to U Dan.

Thanks Mat, much appreciated, have left the car idling today whilst I washed it and get it nice and warm, used the sport button to check the level and it came up as 1.1L (where as is was always 1.0L before hand) I assume this is ok?

The main Oil Level in the dash however still hasn't come back, is it worth going on a nice long journey somewhere and just racking up say 30+ miles all at once and seeing what happens?

It frustrates me when things don't work as they should!

EDIT: Is it worth checking and clearing any fault codes to reset it do you think?

No worries Dan 1.1L is what mine read by pressing the SPORT button, before yesterdays TD @ Bedford, even though the OBC oil reading said 0.4L. After the drive from Cambridge to Bedford and the morning TD session the oil reading on the OBC reset itself from 0.4L to 0.9L. Pressing the SPORT button confirmed it was 0.9L., so a decent 30+ mile drive should (hopefully) get an oil reading on your OBC. Good luck
