Not slow ones, but even a CSL can reach the speed limiter (indicated 168mph) down Dottinger Hohe if you do a second lap (where you use the whole of the straight to pick up speed). 250km/h is only 156mph - anything with 350bhp or more is going to have to watch their speed there (on a second flying lap). Obviously if you pull out of the pits, you can't build up to that speed in the distance you have in a slow car, so no worries there.

The straight before Flugplatz is now limited to 200km/h (only 124mph), it is very easy to hit 135mph in a CSL, so again, you will have to be watching your speed in anything with 350bhp or more (at a point where you really want to be watching the track ).

The 250 km/h limit after Flugplatz down to Swedenkreuz is about right - I wouldn't feel comfortable going too much faster in a road car LOL.

Fast forward to 13 mins, where I slow down for him so we can have a bit of a ding-dong. Sadly it only lasted a lap as he ran out of fuel, but it shows you the strengths of the car as it is now.

The reason I asked was there was a black tricked up one at Bedford SEN with aero set up, nice big GT wing who also pulled away on straights but was crap in the braking zones and cornering even when I was on cold tyres.

In the right hands it should be a weapon.

What tyres is he running, cups or Dunlops 03gs

10 x 18s with 285/30 Cups all round.

It corners as good as the CSL, but being heavier and carrying more speed, he has to get on the brakes earlier.

Has full APs all round with RS29s, so stops well (considering it is 80kg heavier than the CSL).

With no driver, mine is 253bhp per tonne (assuming full compliment of ponies) and his is 279bhp per tonne (assuming same). Hence why he romps away on straights.

On the lap above, I am solo and he is passengered up, so it appeared closer than it usually is compared to when I either have a passenger or he ditches his....

When you add weights of drivers (he is a big lad) the power to weight goes to: 241 and 262 respectively. To make it more even, I need him to have one of our fat mates in the car, which takes him to 246bhp per tonne (whilst I stay solo) LOL. This is all based on standard power figures. His car will shortly be 450bhp, which will make the disparity that much greater (over 300bhp per tonne without driver ). Given it is already a struggle to stay with him on the straights, I won't be able to keep up any more.

After some trial and error, it is properly set up on the suspension now, so he can take turn 1 at Snett flat in 4th . At Snett on Wed he was monstering 997 GT3s, GTRs, F30 M3s. I personally still like the feel of the CSL compared to it, as it feels much more "chuckable" and has more steering feel, but it is just gutless by comparison.

What do you reckon his entry and exit speed is?

Brake hard after white line, chuck in, about 85-90mph on speedo, then full power in 4th, hit rumble strips about 100mph/104mph.

Thats going to be a weapon, once car is sorted im off to Snetterton and see what its got.

He was telling me he was hitting 120mph on the rumble strips (exit, not clip point though) - and this is without the aero....

I'll load up pics of the aero going on the car.....

(His is the bottom one)

I probably should have said "most people in most road cars" but you're right. I've not done any laps since the limits were introduced so I couldn't quite visualise it, I guess it's not the biggest hardship in the world though - a lift here and there. We'll see what happens, banning lap records could cause a stir for one thing!

The testing I was meant to be doing in fast cars was cancelled on Monday so I might sign up to DN12 to make up for it, but I've only done 3 laps in something I actually own and it's a much much scarier experience knowing you'd have to pick up the bill
