I forgot about those ones, they aren't E88 thought mate, R-GT or something from memory - love them still but e88 are my favourites, though mega money!

I decided to use my OEM 19 CSL's with Pirelli Corsa road tires (non semi-slick) and go for OZ Ultraleggera as Shane recommended. Could someone please enlighten me the benefits of going with 18" rather than 19" to a semi-slick newbie like me ? Is it only because square setup allows for front and rear tire rotation and slightly lower cost ? Or am I missing something like a handling benefit as well ? Thanks, Last edited by Clubber; 15-10-2014 at 09:50 AM. |

I personally find turn in is better and helps eliminate understeer.

Thanks guys. Would these wheels clear the kw cs at the front ? My oem csl's require a 10mm spacer. I don't think there will be any room for spacers with the OZ's.

my square set up Volks are 9.5J x 18 with 265x35x18 Cups and offsets are et34 front and et15 rear effectively. The fronts clear the intrax by no more than 3/4mm and allow me to run any camber i like from 1.5 upwards.
I think the reality to swap tyres right left, front rear saves money long term. Also it allows you to carry one spare for all occasions. Next the wide front helps with turn in, improves breaking and reduces understeer or at least makes it feel that way to us Billys. all subtle changes but it seems to work.

If 265's with 9.5 with clears the front fenders than I guess I'll be fine even with 10mm spacers. I think. For the benefits, I also thought about switching left to right as it is more useful in Istanbul Park F1 Circuit. It is counter clockwise and keeps eating right hand side tires. But aren't cups direction specific ? Can you rotate them anyway you like ? front and back and side to side ? |
