This place is amazing and the food is out of this world. Been there 3 times.

It has a nice relaxed feel unlike some places that can feel stuffy / lost up their own backside.

Other huge benefit is the CSL friendly roads just outside the door
The drive on up past Lochness to inverness is stunning and roads are empty this time of year!


If you make it to Edinburgh the Witchery is a recommended stay in their suites. Then a meal in their winter garden.

I'm 2 minutes from Gleneagles and will loan the CSL out at very reasonable rates!!

I've actually been looking over last couple of days for a nice place to stay in Edinburgh. Somewhere within walking/taxi distance to places within Edinburgh as looking to fly in rather than drive up.

Any places or areas to look at? Been looking at The Roxburghe Hotel & The George. Anyone know these places or better? Sorry to hijack Yanto

For more "boutique" choices, try the Bonham Hotel or the Apex Hotel in the Grassmarket or the Apex Hotel in Waterloo Place.

Another vote for the Witchery here, gorgeous food and a serious wine list! :-)

Cameron house another spot on place but without wheels, it's a bit of a mare if flying I to Edinburgh. The old course hotel in St Andrews is a wicked spot and handy enough to get to by train from Edinburgh.

The Balmoral just up from Waverly Train station is a class place even for a drink, but is also a Michelin Star restaurant. Needless to say the food is to die for.

Edinburgh is a fantastic city and I miss it loads. Can't wait to get over again next year for some more real ales.
