Whoops. Actually I guess you've been a bit lucky because you haven't had valve/piston interface as a result.

I found out my vanos solenoid was at fault unbolted it off car, removed sealed cover and resoldered all joints on printed board resealed cover, refitted cleared fault codes now works perfect full power back and saved myself £400 plus ;-)

You could make yourself a few £££ by refurbing solenoids! I was under the impression once they were dead that you couldn't fix them...

Where in the engine bay is the vanos solenoid? Anyone have a picture?

I had to look a while ago because I didnt know what one was
