Asking such questions on M3 CSL forum won't give you the answers.

On here, you have people that think only CSL can take corners fast and everything else is a boat. Also, most are into trackdays and hence the point of view towards... do not buy it.

An M6 is great for B road blast but not so much on track - too heavy. Curb weight is 1785kg (all in)

Ok, i actually had an M6 so i'll give you my advice;

1. Running costs as a daily driver - forget it tbh. 12 - 14mpg is an achievemnt in town but mid 20s on motorway runs. I feel the issue of fuel consumption is magnified by smal tank (73L)

2. M6 which was tested by Chris Harris on Silverstone, did 2 seconds faster than E90 M3.

3. The overtaking power is fcking addictive as is the V10 sound which beats CSL inline 6 on so many levels...

4. M6 is a GT car. Relaxing and refined, quiet.

5. Rock solid in high speeds!!

6. You hardly ever see an M6 on the road

7. There are many things that have been enhanced compared to E60 M5 (i only say this because people always start comparisons) i.e. Aluminium doors, CFRP side wings, CF roof and so on.

8. Faster from rolling start compared to 997 Turbo

9. 200 mph rocket! Exotica teritorry

10. The last V10 M engine derived from F1

My advice is - buy it and i can't see an M6 losing much money. I see some at £19k but tbh. there is a difference between the early and late models.

Now go and buy one in SS II and full leather only!! oh and warranty as well - early models do have certain issues...

Some very valid points by rutkowski and the M6 is an epic car BUT boy is it ugly Not sure I could live with it on my drive.

But if you fancied a few months of fun with it and then shifted it quickly I don't think you'd lose much.

Fair points Rutkowski - never said it was a bad car...in fact, I said it was a great GT.

Am not precious about CSLs. I think they're great cars but there are some better and some worse. I've had some great laughs cornering "at speed" in my old 205 Gti. I just don't buy the straight line speed arguement unless you are at a vmax event (which doesn't appeal to me at all). Useless quality on a public road with the cameras / rozzers which leaves trackdays, which let's be fair, there are better options than an M6.....and no, I don't neccesarily mean CSL

I think my depreciation view still stands. The M6 is a mega but strikes me (from reading forums) as a technically complicated car...which is great new and warrantied but I believe a less attractive proposition to the used car buyer in the future as they fall into the hands of people who won't maintain them correctly...could see gtr going the same way for example.

Lower numbers, less complicated, smaller capacity engine, probably more enthusiast owned examples etc will probably mean the CSL will shit less of it's value which was the original basis of the question.

I would keep the CSL and stretch to getting the M6 as well if funds allow. You can then sell the M6 in 6 months after you've had your straight line fun and before it's value plummets too far lol!

That's because you're usually wrong homo

It is a SS II with full leather and nearly all the options with BMW comp warranty.

Just can't justify loosing loads of cash after a couple of months

Why not rent one for the weekend/week then your know if its the car for you and save you some dosh in the long run.

My mates got a rental company so Ive had the pleasure of driving one. They sound awesome and are rapid. But I got bored after a couple of days as its to grown up, like the new M3. Thats why I prefer the rawness of the csl, as I dont do many miles as year.

I might try that mate, like you say they are fun for raw power but it will probably get boring after a while. Everytime I jump in the CSL it's like a new experience. What's the rental company by the way?
