I wonder if the CSL engine would fit in the engine bay...I know that people have put E36 M3 engines in them, but never heard of the E46 engine used.....I suppose it would be a bit of a tight squeeze.

What, an S54 in an e30? Yep, it should fit (with a 'little' bit of work.)

Some crazy bloke has managed to squeeze an M5/6 V10 block into an e30 shell: http://car-q.com/plus/view.php?aid=452144

That will be Fast i would think
I was racing a e30 with an old M5 engine in it at knockhill
and the csl was struggling to pass it.

He is friends with Steve Gill on here

Been afew M5 Engined E30 M3..Didn't Hartge do one way back.
