Some of these old Alpinas look great value (not this one particualrly) - more the older 5 & 7 series...

I had a race against one at VMAX when I had my E36 M3. There wasn't much in it, but they pulled away in the end as it's got no limiter. My mate was driving my car and missed a gear which didn't help either

at £5k I'd love that but only for the v8. It wont be as good to drive as an e46 m3 for similar money imho.

Looks like a decent motor, but for an everyday runner there are better out there. I dont rate the old alpina's, drove many e46's, e39's and they did not have that one thing I was hoping they may have- character. They just felt like another 3/5 series with a slightly quicker motor. I agree though the v8 manual would better suit everyday driving than the M3 would. What about a very decent e39 530d m sport, I love the facelifted e39 M sports. Quite a pokey motor esp with remap, good mpg, torquey and spacious. Or I'll just shut up and tell you that perhaps the e36 alpina would be a wise buy and hold or even appreciate in value, but if it doesnt 10k+ is a big price to pay for an e36. Just thinking out loud. |

That was my thought Shim, good fun but for the mileage I'd say it's at least £4k overpriced. Interesting motor though. For the money I'd sooner go E39 M5 but I think you've beeen there already.
