I have the number 3 car you are fearful of
It was a FBMWSH up until the garage i bought it off did the last service (Oil), they are an approved BMW service place though. It has 68k on the clock and due its inspection 1 in a few weeks which i am again going to go independent dealer. After a bit of paint of the front end you wouldnt realise the millage. I had mine up for sale a few weeks back but decided to keep until ive had a little more fun with it :D

Warranty (as ever) is debatable, but at least if you do the above you (or a future owner) can start it up. I don't think the cost to start a warranty (if it's lapsed) was much more than normal, about £1200. (but over 60k it goess up a fair bit) Last edited by danp; 03-04-2009 at 09:07 AM. I have just had an Insp II, but whilst it was in there it also had:
New RTABs New drivers seat frame (no fat bastard comments required!) New oxygen sensor Drivers window fixed (wasn't closing properly above 60mph) KDS Software update (SMG & ECU) It is going back in next week for replacement wiring for the drivers seat belt tensioner (airbag light keeps coming on), and a new diff! All under warranty! All I paid was £574.99 for the Insp II. Warranty is paying for itself this year.

Nice one mate, thats always nice to read.
My Diff started making some bizarre noises last time home so its going in to get looked at but you think I'll be able to replicate it...will I fcuk? I'm thinking it just needs the fancy oil, but I don't mind. Either way, I want rid of the noise. |

It was a special they had on at Stratstone in North Tyneside. But I have heard that Scotthall Hampshire where doing a £500 ish Insp II.
Ring around, and then try and get your local to price match. Malton BMW (in Malton nr York) quoted me £650 before I got the Stratstone quote. There is very little between the M3 & CSL service, both are two day affairs and have the same part replacement parts. Tell them where to stick it and take your business elswhere.

They probably book in extra time as they get confused by the carbon airbox.
Seriously though, over double the price is not justifiable. |
