square set up verdict so far
80 mile test drive today.
no rubbing on front arches on road test car clatters a little more over poor road surfaces(30 profile doesn't seem to affect speedo accuracy.. 80mph @ 3000 rpm which is what it was before running 235's on the front) tramlining is interesting!! turn in is sharp!!! cesil behaved well but the tramlining keeps you honest and both hands definitely on the wheel i'll bring both front wheels on the munich trip just incase i have a change of heart |

I run mine at -3.3 with even wear on last set of cups on 18's and last set of GY's on 19's.
I dont mind it tram lining on country roads as used to it now. But do swap rims round each TD. |

I have recently tried an 18x 9.5J ET25 up front and found no issues of yet. Tiny rub on plastic wheel liner on full lock.

18" is the better option in my opinion but std 19" do make the car look hard as hell!
Oh, and forget the spacers on front with rears.

Lovely .
Could you (both) post up some side on and ¾ angle pictures showing both the front and rears together ? This sort of angle:

Looks like a great set-up Ben, for reversing (Rear wheels on the front)?
If it was the optimum set-up don't you think BMW would have adopted it and just used one wheel size, would make commercial sense if nothing else?

totally agree neil,
i'm famous for messing about with the perfect set up..... "no idea with some of the gear!" if i'm honest the car felt better to drive with standard fronts and 15mm spacers but as billy's csl beautifully illustrates...it looks f...ing lovely and agressive and i'm going to persist with the square set up in the hope that i will adjust to the feel of the car's behaviour... |

I run a square 19" rears all round (albeit) E46 M3 19" rears which are the same size & off set as the CSL rears but a little heavier. It lasted less than 8 months and I'm now back to OEM 19" CSL set up with full PHAT CUPs and 12 mm H&R spacers @ the front + 10 mm H&R spacers @ the back. For me this combination is sweet as a nut Last edited by mattCSLnut; 30-04-2013 at 12:09 AM. |
