I believe i got a pretty good deal on it, considering its provenance, very low milage and exceptional condition - i paid £28k - and i think that if the running in service had been done bang on time it would be a £31/32k car easily. Im happy.

Well who knows how much further the market will drop and how many CSL owners will panic sell and let their cars go for silly money - which would be a real shame as this could falsely cause prices to dip to silly figures. That said, i believe it is still one of the best and most sensible buys in the current climate and will probably depreciate the least of all the cars in its class. Fingers crossed the CSL will go the way of the Evo Sports and appreciate in value!!?

CSLs didn't come out of the factory with a tracker fitted. However, most would've been fitted with one by the supplying dealer at the request of the customer.

cslbecks - All of my M3s (inc the CSL) have got Tracker 'trackers' fitted (so to speak). I can never remember if they are the Horizon or Monitor model. Thankfully, I've not yet had to find out how effective Tracker are but I've heard varying reports of the standard of both their Customer Service and the effectiveness of their technology.
Not inflamed me with that one. I thought they did, but as you say, it is probably the majority that had them fitted by the dealership since insuring a £60k car (then) would have been nigh on impossible (although not impossible - LV are one place that did)....

Out of interest, do you work in customer services or telesales ?

Absolutely - i just bought mine this month and i realise that prices will drop further, at the same time not as much as say a standard M3, and when the economy picks up again, i'm sure that they will appreciate in price.

The Ring is definitely going to happen - probably early next year. Ive just booked the BMW Car magazine track day at Brands on the 25th - that should be nice for starters!!!

If you are at Brands on the 25th how about popping over the Goodwood on the 26th for another track day...we have 3 CSL's there at the moment. Plus you will still be buzzing from Brands.

Bloody hell Andy - i'd love to but i kind of one take one step at a time!!! Im also a biker and have done loads of UK track days and the Ring many times - but i only did my first Ring trip (in my 335i) this year and have only done one CAR track day in UK (Snetterton) - so im going to take it steady - especially as i need to get to grips with the CSL and get familiar with its characteristics etc. I know Brands very well as ive done SO many bike track days there - especially the full GP circuit which is one of my fave tracks. Cant wait to do the Ring in the CSL though!!!
