The only thing I don't like about the CAE shifter is that it bolts on to the transmission tunnel and not the top of the gearbox. What I found is that in hard cornering the gearbox and engine move around a bit from left to right (mine was not solid mounted for NVH), which means the gear-change position would change slightly and because the H pattern on the MT75 feels quite close together with this shifter, it lead to mis-shifts going from 4th to 5th (potentially allowing you to buzz the engine).

In the end, I made a platform to mount it on the top of the gearbox so that any movement in the transmission did not affect the shift position.

Plus the adjuster on the shaft would keep coming undone, so once I was satisfied it was in the correct position I had a one-piece item made. With this all done, the change was super-fast and I was then confident to do clutchless up-changes with just the briefest throttle lift (Ludde dog-box). Was sufficiently fast-changing that it was able to see off 750bhp GTRs .

I'm sure the 420G is mounted more rigidly than the MT75, but if you do start to experience miss-shifting issues, then at least you know where to look to fix it .

Re cage, are you thinking full FIA spec cage which is welded to all vital chassis points or half cage?

I have a CSL (naturally) but the one thing I find lacking in the car is steering feel. There just isn't much of it plus it is a bit light. I wonder if the regular car is better in that respect.

have you done the exhaust yet?
Want to go full weld in (that's why I've been putting it off)

CSL has a better rack than my poverty M3 so you better off currently.

Haven't really done much with the exhaust, I want to go single system to get the weight down but still need to be within noise regs.

That's some fine fab work you have there

I have Vibra-Technics engine and transmission mounts so I don't suffer from that problem.

So did I..... (but just the fast-road versions).

I think you had the issues at the track with the cups and you are not sure what geometry settings you have.
Sounds very suspicious now

No Alex, I also have a Gt3 RS, Cayman R (sold) and AMG c63. CSL steering feel is sub par tbh especially off centre and too light. I haven't changed it in any way. It's accurate just not feelsome. Not like the cups which I think will respond to lower pressures but the last track evening was slightly damp and the car didn't get exercised enough. Grip was much better on 30psi than 35psi, I can attest.

But the steering may warrant further investigation... I'll ask Simpson's

.
good job. I have the fully welded in cage. Stiffer than my Gt3 RS

and am upgrading to supersprint race box with supersprint resonater. Currently only testing 88db at 6k rpm on most tracks (i don't know what the drive by is) but I think should be ok. I'll find out one way or another. It is predominantly done to save weight. I actually like the current setup noise wise.

My Supersprint race system (headers back) registers 106dB static .
