After the longest month of my life I finally took delivery of the car yesterday! And guess what.....I've only gone a broken it already!

Looks like a sensor fault as both the DSC and handbrake warning lights are showing, and based on the sideways action in the rain yesterday the traction control was definitely disengaged!

Not that surprising considering the car has only done about 500 miles over the last five years, and had its legs stretched yesterday, but I need to get it sorted before I head off on my Scotland road trip next weekend as the Highland roads + almost certain rain + no traction control = a big mess!

Gremlins aside I couldn't wipe the smile of my face yesterday. This is so far removed from a stock E46 M3 and indeed my Z3M Coupe. It really is an awesome machine, but the best part is the noise! Its so addictive!

Still trying to get to grips with the SMG box. Thankfully its a weekend toy rather than a daily driver as I'm not sure I could live with it, but it works a treat when you use the car as BMW intended!

Must admit I wondered why the chap in the garage looked puzzled when I asked if I could take it for a spin! 🙄

Thankfully the lights have now gone out. Head back in the sand.

Hi Chris,

Sounds like you had fun despite the hiccups

Probably a faulty wheel speed sensor, but if it doesn't return all is good.
As for SMG you will learn to drive it, but it needs time. It took me a couple thousand miles until i came to grips with it. Basicly you need to drive it just like a manual and give it a bit of gas on the downshifts if you aren't driving fast. It smoothes out the shift.
Apart from the 2 to 1 shift.. that i never manage to get smooth

My second weekend of enjoying the CSL and fall more in love with this car every time I get behind the wheel!

I had planned on going up to the Scottish Highlands to see some family, but as the only place in the whole of the UK with rain forecast was the West Coast I thought better of it, but still managed to spend most of the weekend with the biggest grin on my face!

Still getting used to the SMG box, its getting easier, but the car overall is just immense. The handling is near perfect, the noise is soooooo addictive!

Spent some time on the windy roads which suits the car perfectly. Straight line speed is perhaps not that epic compared to more modern cars I've driven, but the handling, OMG I'm in love!

I still get a boy hood twinge in my pants when I look at the car. Aesthetically is just works from every angle. It looks aggressive without being over the top. Spent ages washing it, much to the missus frustration!
