Car won't start!

Hi fellas
About 6 weeks ago I had the battery light come on and you guys said it was the alternator well since then I haven't used it and it's sat on my drive as I've been using the gfs mx5
I've decided to get it fixed but come to start it and all the lights were dim and yes I'd left it open all that time and didn't realise it goes into sleep mode! Got a new battery for it today as the other wouldn't take a charge and now all the dash lights come on but it won't even turn over although it's still in gear!
It did take a while yesterday to get it in neutral as the big R stayed on even though the little r had gone to neutral but it was still in gear
Has anyone any ideas as I'd like to get it to BMW but it's stuck on my drive and my insurance breakdown doesn't cover it other wise I need to pay to get it trailered there

Is the bonnet properly closed ? If it all looks fine but you're getting a chiming sound, it could be the SMG bonnet microswitch. Either that or the new battery isn't charged enough to drive the hydraulics fully ?

you will need to get some jump leads on there and try starting it. Attach points are under the bonnet, not directly to the battery!

Rac is £82 to join and I'm as tight as a nats chuff! :-p
will get ace recovery to pick it up if I can't start it

where is it now?

can i help im only round the corner but the trailer i had has just been dumped up in the midlands

Chamers and Gillies in Welwyn might pop over and see it for you or i can come over and take a look, you cant be very far away from them
