Powder Coating Wheels ??

Went to drop my car off at the wheelspecialist this morning for a wheel refurb (full strip and powder coat), chap didn't want to do them as he thought they were magnesium, he showed me a set of mag race wheels that were knackered from the powder coating process (very porous). I tried to assure him it was a myth but doubt then crept into my mind...so I said I would investigate and get back to him.

Anyone had their wheels powder coated ?? Any issues with the finish ?

These aren't magnesium. Most dealers are under the impression they are but infact are made from lightweight Alloy.
If these were magnesium they would be around 5kg each.

What finish are the black wheels, gloss or semi/satin.

Hi Simon,

They're gloss black. The photo was taken as the sun was setting so they don't look quite as they would usually.
