Default Winter Wheels??

I wanted to ask whether anyone here has a 2nd set of wheels that they use just for winter?

Im expecting it would maybe be those who use their CSLs as a daily driver but wanted to know if there are any recommendations as i plan to try snag a CSL over the next 6 months and it would be getting used daily and worry about killing the CSL wheels during the winter

thanks in advance!

I would think that a second set of wheels to most members would be a set for Track not Winter use.

Winter and BBS wheels just don't mix from previous experiences, the frost and ice permeates and lifts the lacquer and road salt blows the paint after it has a good bite at the alloy, £285 refurb recently on a set of 18"
To get a set of CSL's would be getting on for twice that price due to 19" dia.

So prevention is better in this case than cure, as all good CSL's should be in Hibernation mode by the end of the month (October to April) ready to emerge like Butterflies come the Spring.

I would guess that the winter option would be a smaller size not 19"s but more likely 18" or 17"s.

In the garage on axle stands! Then the wheels seem to be fine

Hi guys,

I have a set of BBS CH 19" with Vredestein Wintrac Extreme.
The wheels have done 3 seasons and they are like new (I wash the whole car after each winter trip).
The tyres are excellent on the snow and also have done many fast sessions in Monza (with 0 degrees temperature).
I run stock CSL dimensions 235/265.

You can go as low as 18" wheels on the CSL.
The front brakes will not clear 17" wheels.

I've got some OEM M3 18's with Vredestein Wintrac Extreme's on were used on my previous SMG M3 and will be going on my CSL shortly.

Superb experience last year, makes it genuinely usable out in the sticks and climbed up some hairpins in the Peak District without an issue. Fun.
